Moses Named Student-Athlete of the Week

NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – Sophomore goaltender Sarah Moses from the Niagara women’s hockey team was named Student-Athlete of the Week after helping the Purple Eagles to a weekend split with the Robert Morris Colonials this past weekend.

Moses earned her first career shutout in the 1-0 victory over the Colonials on Friday night, stopping all 26 shots. In the 1-0 loss to the Colonials the following day, the New Hamburg, Ont. native gave another solid performance, pushing aside 30 of 31 attempts on net.

On the weekend, Moses stymied 56 of 57 shots for a 0.50 goals-against average and a .982 save percentage.

The Purple Eagles continue conference play with a home-and-home series against the Mercyhurst Lakers this weekend, starting at Dwyer on Friday, Feb. 3 and wrapping up the following day at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.  Both games are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

Friday’s contest is the annual “Pink the Rink” game where the women’s hockey team will be supporting the College Hockey America's (CHA) “Skate for the Cure” initiative.  Wear pink and receive a three dollar ticket, while everyone in attendance will also have an opportunity to participate in a postgame skate and autograph session with the team.

Tickets are still available for Friday so stop by the Niagara Ticket Office at Dwyer Arena or by calling 716-286-TIXX.  The game will also be aired live on Time Warner Sports Net.
