HAVERHILL, Mass. - Freshman forward
Kayla Raniwsky of the Niagara women's hockey team earned College Hockey America (CHA) Rookie of the Week honors as the Purple Eagles went 1-1 in weekend play against the Syracuse Orange.
The Windsor, Ont. native had a solid week for Niagara as she tallied a goal in each game for the Purple Eagles. During Friday's overtime victory, Raniwsky netted a powerplay goal, while the following day she contributed a shorthanded marker.
Raniwsky and the third seeded Purple Eagles start their quest for a CHA Tournament title this Friday in the semifinal contest against the No. 2 Robert Morris Colonials. The puck is set to drop at 3:45 p.m. at the RMU Island Sports Center in Moon Township, Pa.
