HAVERHILL, Mass. – The Niagara women's hockey team placed 15 Purple Eagles on the College Hockey America (CHA) All-Academic Team.
Freshman forward Katie Dods was named to the Academic All-Star team along with forwards Vicki Bendus (Mercyhurst) and Stefanie Marty (Syracuse) and defensemen Anneline Lauziere (Robert Morris) and Kathryn Gaskin (Wayne State). Dods, who is a native of Kemptville, Ont., has a 3.96 grade-point average and is majoring in Biology.
Jenni Bauer, Kathlenn Bortuzzo, Sarah Connelly, Daniela Dal Colle, Dods, Cailtin Jenkins, Jocey Kleiber, Nathalie Larsen, Sarah Moses, Kristen Richards, Paige Sasser, Autumn Stuntz, May Wilkerson, Chelsea Witwicke and Sarah Zacharias were the players honored for their academic achievements. NU's 15 student-athletes were second in the conference, one behind Robert Morris (16).
To qualify for the CHA All-Academic Team an individual must post a 3.0 grade point average or higher in all of the academic periods during which his team was actively competing.
