Theresa Berg is in her fifth year at Niagara University, where she supervises nine men’s and women’s teams, serves as gender equity advisor, directs the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and NCAA Life Skills programming, oversees game operations and assists in managing home contests. She serves on the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Athletic Administration Committee, chairs the MAAC Women’s Golf Sport Committee, and serves on the MAAC Men’s Golf Sport Committee and Awards Committee. Since 2006, Berg has been a member of the organizing committee for the NCAA Women’s Leadership Symposium held every two years in the Midwest. She is a member of the athletics senior staff and the Niagara Faculty Athletics Advisory Committee.
Berg spent seven years as Assistant Athletic Director and Senior Woman Administrator at Walsh University in Ohio. While at Walsh, Berg had direct oversight of 11 teams, managed game operations, served as gender equity advisor and was the Champions of Character representative. She also was head coach of the women’s basketball program for eight years.
While at Walsh, Berg served on several NAIA, WBCA and conference committees. In 2006, she was vice president of the WBCA-NAIA Executive Committee, a two-year member of the NAIA Women’s Basketball Committee, Academic All-American selection committees, and was voted to be the chair of the conference women’s basketball coaches by her peers.
Berg began her career as assistant women’s basketball and track and field coach of the Grove City College in 1995. She took over as head track and field coach in 1997 and remained at Grove City until 1998.
Walsh University named Berg head women’s basketball coach in 1998. She led six teams to postseason play, posted the most wins in the program’s history in 2005, coached the 2004 team to a 20-win season with a 23rd national ranking. Berg helped produce an NAIA Second Team All-American, two WBCA-NAIA Honorable Mention All-Americans, eight NAIA Academic All-Americans, 25 all-conference selections and two all-freshman team members.
Berg is a 1993 graduate of Grove City College where she earned her bachelor of arts in social science and secondary education. She later earned her master’s degree in athletic administration at Slippery Rock University in 1997.
