Just over a month since the men’s hockey team danced its way into the NCAA Tournament, two former Purple Eagles are making another postseason run, in the American Hockey League. Matt Caruana of the Portland Pirates and Kyle Rogers of the Toronto Marlies both are set to begin the second round of the Calder Cup Playoffs.

DETROIT MICH. - R.H. “Bob” Peters who has served as College Hockey America Commissioner for the past seven years has announced his retirement effective June 30, 2008. The CHA men’s regular-season trophy has been called the R.H. “Bob” Peters Cup since 2002.

NIAGARA UNIV. N.Y. - For the third time in six weeks the Niagara men's ice hockey program has launched a student-athlete to the National Hockey League. Senior co-captain Matt Caruana has signed a professional contact with the 2007 Stanley Cup Champions, the Anaheim Ducks.

NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. - Niagara University Purple Eagle right-wing Kyle Rogers (Erie, Pa.) has reached an agreement with the Toronto Maple Leafs signing a two-year entry-level contract. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Junior recorded 18 goals and 22 assists while playing 96 games over three years at Niagara.
