TORONTO – The Toronto Marlies, 2018 Calder Cup Champions, announced the signing of forward
Derian Plouffe to a contract on June 18.
Plouffe – who signed an Amateur Try-Out (ATO) with the Marlies at the end of Niagara's 2017-18 season – played in 10 regular season games for Toronto and registered three points.
The former Purple Eagle was named to the 2017-18 Atlantic Hockey All-Conference Third Team after setting career-high totals in goals (17), assists (18) and points (35) while leading the squad in goals and points. In the conference, Plouffe finished tied for third in goals and seventh in points. He led the AHA, and was second in the nation, with three short-handed goals. Plouffe's four game-winning goals led NU and finished tied for third in the AHA.
The Toronto Marlies are a member of the American Hockey League (AHL) and are the top affiliate of the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs. They won their first-ever Calder Cup on June 14, defeating the Texas Stars in Game Seven of the Calder Cup Finals.
