EDISON, N.J. – ESPN has announced the matchup between the Niagara Purple Eagles and the Canisius Golden Griffins on Jan. 22 as its "wildcard" game to air live on ESPNU at 7 p.m. from the Frank and Barbara Layden Court at the Gallagher Center.

The wildcard format allows ESPN to pick any game on the MAAC television schedule for the selected date to air on the designated platform (ESPN2, ESPNU, or ESPN3). ESPN will announce which game has been selected for the wildcard telecast 21 days out. The format enables the MAAC and ESPN flexibility to showcase the best possible matchups.

The Purple Eagles lead the all-time series, 101-77, and is 19-7 in the last 26 meetings including winning nine of the last 12 at the Gallagher Center.
