NIAGARA UNIV, N.Y. – Niagara Director of Athletics Tom Crowley has announced the hiring of Christine Kloiber as the new head coach for the Men's and Women's cross country and women's outdoor track & field teams.
"We welcome Christine Kloiber to Niagara University," said Crowley. "Christine stood out in our national search for a new cross country coach. She has an infectious enthusiasm and a good understanding of how to build a quality running program."
Kloiber comes to Monteagle Ridge with 10 years of coaching experience. She was the head coach of the Regis College (Division III) men's and women's indoor/outdoor track & field teams from 2003-12. At Regis she was responsible for building the first men's team in program history and coached multiple Division III ECAC qualifiers within three seasons (which included a 2012 indoor bronze medalist in the 500-meters). Kloiber also coordinated all administrative, budgetary, equipment, logistical, and practical operations of the team, and operated as the Athletic Department's Strength and Conditioning Coach for all varsity teams.
From 2012-2013 Kloiber served as the coach of the Hare & Hounds Running Club of the University of Edinburgh in Scotland while pursuing her Master's Degree in Sport Performance Enhancement at Edinburgh Napier University. Her undergraduate degree was received from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst where she competed as a varsity athlete on the indoor and outdoor track and field teams for four years. She is currently certified as an NCSA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist, a USA Track & Field Level I Course Instructor, and holds USA Track and Field Level II certifications in sprints/hurdles/relays, endurance, and the jump events.
"I'm incredibly honored to be joining Niagara University Athletics as NU's Cross Country and Outdoor Track Coach," Kloiber said. "The team is rich with talent and drive, and is eager to make a strong impact on the MAAC. I'm looking forward to not only this season, but many more to come."
Both Cross Country teams are back in action this weekend when they head to Rochester for the Yellowjacket Invitational.
