EDISON, N.J. – Freshman Sarah Hellstern was named MAAC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week on Tuesday.

Hellstern won both of her singles matches over the weekend to remain undefeated in her career. Hellstern cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win over Brianna Turano of Manhattan in No. 3 singles on Saturday and defeated IPFW’s Kristine Lindal, 6-2, 6-1, on Monday to improve to 6-0 on the season. Hellstern hasn’t dropped a set in singles action this season. Hellstern and her doubles partner Iva Celan split their doubles matches with their win coming against Manhattan’s No. 2 team, 8-4, as the Purple Eagles blanked conference foe Manhattan 7-0.

Niagara will play four away matches this week, beginning with George Mason on Wednesday, March 6.
