MANHATTAN, KS. – After taking the weekend series against Delaware State, the Purple Eagles stay out on the road to play a two-game set against Kansas State before taking on Kansas in a four-game series later in the week.
The series against the Kansas State (6-3) starts on Tuesday with RHP
Kyle Olver (1-0) going up against RHP Blake McFadden (0-0). Olver won his first start of the season, and of his collgiate career, with a four-hit, nine-inning win against Tennessee Tech. McFadden, also a freshman, will be making his first start of the season after throwing two innings of relief pitching, giving up only one hit, over the first nine games of the season.
LHP
Joel Klock is scheduled to make his first trip to the mound on Wednesday and will face RHP Jake Doller. Klock has played the field through the first 10 games but made eight starts last season and finished with an 1-2 record. Doller, a senior, has made two appearances this season out of the pen this year, but made 18 appearances last season, finishing with a 1-1 record and an 8.25 ERA.
The Purple Eagles (3-7) head right from Manhattan to Lawrence, KS to take on the Kansas Jayhawks from Thursday through Sunday. RHP
Drew Fittry (0-2) is set to take the mound in the series opener against fellow righty Frank Duncan (1-1), who is making his fourth start of the year. Two lefties will do battle on Tuesday as LHP
Jim Fort (0-1) is set to take on LHP Wes Benjamin (0-2). Righties will be back at it on Saturday as RHP
Anthony Caringi (0-1) will face RHP Thomas Taylor (1-0). The starters for Sunday’s series finale have not been announced.
Offensively,
Michael Fuhrman is leading the team in batting average with a .324 in 10 appearances this year.
Ryan McCauley,
Greg Rodgers and
Pavel Chavez-Rusova are all tied with two homeruns apiece. Chavez-Rusova is tied with
Kevin Paulsen with a team-high seven RBIs. Three players are tied with six.
Logan Linder led the way at the plate last weekend versus Delaware State as the outfielder finished 5-for-9 with three walks and four RBIs.
