EDISON, N.J. – The Niagara men’s tennis team was slated third in this season’s MAAC Preseason Poll, announced on Thursday.

Niagara finished last season with an 11-7 record for its most wins since the 2002-03 season. The Purple Eagles, who finished third last season, were edged by eventual MAAC champion Fairfield in the 2012 MAAC Tournament Semifinal.

The Purple Eagles return seven letterwinners, including three members on the 2012 MAAC All-Second Team: David Raymond, Olivier Dufour-Coursol and Lorenz Schwojer.

This season, NU is 3-0 (1-0 in MAAC) for its best start since the 2005-06 season. 

Defending regular season champion Marist (49) was picked first, followed by defending tournament champion Fairfield (40).

The 2013 MAAC Men's and Women's Tennis Championships will take place at Mercer County Park in West Windsor, New Jersey from April 27-28.
