Past Student-Athlete of the Week Honors

Antoine Mason was named Student-Athlete of the Week after setting a career-high and tied a couple as the Niagara men’s basketball team went 2-1 in three games last week.
In the one-point overtime loss to Brown, Mason had a season-best nine rebounds. In the win at Saint Peter’s, Mason tied a career-high with a season-high 26 points to lead all scorers. The guard shot 56 percent (10-for-18) from the field, made a season-best three 3-pointers and had seven rebounds in 29 minutes against the Peacocks.
The Queens, N.Y. native was clutched on offense and defense in the 67-64 victory over Fairfield on Sunday. Mason went 12-for-12 at the free-throw line, which set a new career-high, and made a pair of free throws in the final seconds to give NU a 67-64 lead. Defensively, Mason tied a career-best with four steals and his fourth steal of the game led to the go-ahead basket with 3:35 left. Mason finished the week averaging 18.7 points per game, 6.0 rebounds per game and 2.0 steals per game.
Mason and the Purple Eagles take to the court on Thursday, Jan. 17 to host the Siena Saints. Tip off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the ‘Taps’ Gallagher Center.
