Bryson Named Student-Athlete of the Week

Past Student-Athlete of the Week Winners

NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – Sophomore pitcher Kim Bryson was named Niagara Student-Athlete of the Week after earning a career-high 15 strikeouts against Siena last Friday.

Bryson’s performance tied Niagara’s single-game strikeouts record, set by Joni Sontrop in 1998.  She now has 126 strikeouts on the season, three behind Sontrop for second place on Niagara’s single-season strikeouts list.  If the Perrysburg, Ohio native earns three more strikeouts during the 2012 campaign, she will share fourth place on the Niagara's career strikeouts list with Brooke Viola (243).

Bryson allowed no runs and one hit against the Saints, while striking out seven batters in the opening three innings.  She finished the game giving up two runs on four hits.

The Purple Eagles return to the field on Wednesday, April 25 when they host Little Three rival St. Bonaventure in a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
