Dufour-Coursol Earns Student-Athlete of the Week

NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – After going 2-1 in three singles matches last week, sophomore Olivier Dufour-Coursol notched Niagara Student-Athlete of the Week honors.

Dufour-Coursol improved to 5-1 in singles on the season by winning all three matches during Niagara’s spring break tour in Winter Park, Fla. Dufour Courol picked up two wins in No. 5 singles and one in No. 4 singles. 

The Lle-Bizard, Quebec native defeated Kennesaw State’s Gianni Kubin 4-6, 7-6 (3), 10-7 in the Purple Eagles’ first match of the tour on March 5th. The next day, he swept Robert Morris’ Ricardo Horlle 6-0, 6-3 as Niagara rolled to a 6-1 win over the Colonials. Dufour Coursol played in No. 4 singles against Creighton and defeated Ryan Norman in straight sets 6-4, 6-3. In doubles, Dufour Coursol and Lorenz Schwojer were edged in two doubles matches, but did beat RMU’s Jose Limon and Horlle in No. 2 doubles, 8-4. 

Both tennis programs are back in action on Friday, March 16 when play against Mt. St. Mary’s College.  Action begins at 3 p.m.
