HAVERHILL, Mass. – After the Niagara men’s hockey team swept Robert Morris in the Atlantic Hockey Association (AHA) tournament quarterfinals, two student-athletes were honored by the AHA with weekly honors as senior Chris Noonan tabbed Goalie of the Week and freshman Isaac Kohls earned Rookie of the Week.

Noonan was a rock between the pipes, stopping 48 of 49 shots, going 2-0-0, with a 0.50 goals-against average (GAA) and a .980 save percentage for the weekend.  On Friday, the Portage, Mich. native stopped all 22 stops en route to his third career shutout, a 3-0 victory of the Colonials.  The next night, Noonan stopped 26 of 27 shots in the series-clinching 2-1 win over Robert Morris.

As of Monday, the senior goaltender was second nationally with a 1.60 GAA, first nationally with a .944 save percentage, seventh nationally in goalie winning percentage (.688) and is tied for 22nd nationally with two shutouts.

Kohls had a huge weekend for the Purple Eagles, with a plus-three ranking, while having a hand in three of Niagara’s five goals.  The Forest Lake, Minn. native scored two goals, an assist and three points in the AHA quarterfinal.  Kohls netted a goal and contributed a helper during Friday’s victory, while adding a goal on Saturday.

Niagara hits the ice this Friday, March 16 when it takes on the RIT Tigers in the AHA Tournament semifinals.  Action takes place in the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, N.Y., with the puck dropping an hour after completion of the first semifinal at 4:05 p.m.
