Clothing Drive Hosted by the NU Tennis Teams

NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – The Niagara men’s and women’s tennis programs did its part this winter to bring warmth and comfort to those in need within the local community by sponsoring a cold-weather clothing drive.

From Dec. 3 through Dec. 7, the tennis teams collected donations for cold-weather clothing (sweaters, jackets, sweatpants, gloves, etc.) from the University community.  The project was a huge success as over 15 large garbage bags full of clothing and accessories were gathered and donated to the soup kitchen located at St. George’s Anglican Church in Niagara Falls, N.Y. on Dec. 8.

"This was the first year we have run a clothing drive at NU and we didn't know what to expect,” head coach Anthony Nguyen said.  “We had an amazing amount of donations and that speaks volumes about the loving community we have here at Niagara. Overall, the project was a huge success and we want to thank everyone who contributed to this great cause."

For the fifth consecutive year, the student-athletes also spent the day volunteering at the soup kitchen in St. George’s, preparing and serving food to the less fortunate as well as decorating the Christmas tree and wrapping presents.
