NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – After registering a five-point weekend for the Niagara men’s hockey team, junior
Ryan Murphy was tabbed as Niagara’s Student-Athlete of the Week.
Murphy contributed four assists and a goal during the two-game sweep over Atlantic Hockey opponent the UConn Huskies. On Friday, the junior helped set up two of Giancarlo Iuorio’s three goals to propel NU to a 3-0 shutout victory. The follow day, Murphy scored the game-winning goal and added two assists in the 5-0 win over the Huskies.
The Stratford, Ont. native finished the weekend with a plus-four rating and had four looks on net.
Murphy and the Purple Eagles travel to West Point, N.Y. this weekend to battle the Army Black Knights in AHA play. The first game is set for Friday, Nov. 9 with the second contest coming the following day. Both games are scheduled for a 7:05 p.m. start.
Saturday’s game will be available on Time Warner Cable in the Western N.Y. region on Channel 87.
