NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. - Sophomore Shane Baxter earned himself Student-Athlete of the Week honors after three first-place finishes in the pool for the Niagara men's swimming team at the All-Catholic Invitational this past weekend.

Baxter is continuing the success he saw in the pool as a freshman during the start of the second year as a Purple Eagle with three new meet records at the invite.

In the first day of competition, Baxter earned a first place finish in the 200-yard IM, clocking in at 1:57.30 for a new meet record.  The following day, he wrapped up the All-Catholic Invitational on a strong note, earning two more first place finishes that clocked in as meet records.  He completed the 100-yard backstroke in 52.44 and swam the 200-yard backstroke in 1:56.47.

The sophomore also contributed in the second place finish of the 200-medley relay and the 400-medley relay.

Baxter and the Purple Eagles are back in action this Saturday, Oct. 27 when the team travels to Cleveland, Ohio for a dual meet against Cleveland State and Gannon.  Action is set to begin at noon.
