NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Niagara men's tennis' No. 1 team of
Brandon Gallegos and
Michael Elortegui had their run at the USTA/ITA Northeast Regionals come to an end in the round of 16 on Sunday.
The duo, who knocked off No. 1 doubles teams from Boston and Fairfield, fell to the seventh-seeded team from Cornell, Sam Fleck and Quoc-Daniel Nguyen, 8-5.
"Although we didn't play very well today, I thought we did a nice job of battling," head coach
Anthony Nguyen said. "It's always disappointing to come out on the losing end, but as a whole I was proud of the way we competed at this tournament. The team has been working hard and it's nice to see them reap the rewards of their hard work. We now look forward to putting in the hard work this off season to get us prepared for the spring."
The men's team had a strong fall season and will continue the 2012-13 season on Jan. 16 with a home match at St. Francis (Pa.).
