OLEAN, N.Y. – The Niagara women’s tennis team wrapped up its first tournament of the season this weekend, competing at the SBU Fall Classic against Indiana (Pa.), Youngstown State and the host St. Bonaventure.
Niagara was unable to pick up a win in doubles action on Friday night, but a couple of Purple Eagles mustered wins in singles action over the weekend.
Hilary Hansen went 1-2 after falling to IUP’s Tanya Timko 9-8 in the Flight A consolation round final, while
Ashley Ta also went 1-2 in Flight A.. Sophomore
Iva Celan went 2-1 in Flight B singles, including winning the consolation bracket by defeating YSU’s Lauren Hankle, 8-6.
Niagara will send a few Purple Eagles to compete at next weekend’s Northeast ITA Regionals in West Point, N.Y.
