SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Niagara lacrosse alum
Sheila McAuliffe ('06)
was highlighted in the Syracuse Post-Standard on Tuesday after undergoing a life changing surgery.
The Syracuse native was diagnosed with epilepsy in high school, experiencing up to 30 seizures a day. She would go on to play NCAA D-I women's lacrosse for the Purple Eagles, while having medical issues.
In 2007, she recieved a second diagnosis of cortical dysplasia and had a third of her brain's left frontal lobe surgically removed in attempt to treat the condition. Since then, the former Purple Eagle has not had a seizure.
