EDISON, N.J. - Seniors
Sam Morgan and
Hannah Hedrick each earned individual awards as Niagara placed four Purple Eagles on All-MAAC Teams announced at this year’s awards banquet.
Morgan was named MAAC Libero of the Year. The Cincinnati, Ohio native is fourth in the nation with 6.0 digs per set and has been named defensive player of the year a conference-leading five times this season. Morgan set the school’s single-season digs record with 654, breaking her own record she set in 2009 (613). Morgan became the program’s career leader in digs on Sept. 2 and is the conference active leader in digs (2,350). Morgan has recorded double-digit digs in 127 consecutive matches which leads the nation.
Hedrick was recognized as MAAC Co-Defensive Player of the Year. The two-time MAAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player is second on the team and ninth in the MAAC in digs per set (3.14). Hedrick, who won the award as a sophomore in 2009, leads the team in kills (391) and kills per set (3.59).
Morgan and Hedrick were joined by junior
Kari Honomichl on the All-MAAC First Team. Honomichl earned her first All-MAAC First Team honors, after earning second team honors last year. Honomichl is having a career season while placing second on the team in kills per set (3.11) and third in digs per set (2.79). Honomichl’s 44 aces lead the conference and her .42 aces per set ranks 32
nd in the nation. Sophomore
Ellen Senf was selected to the All-MAAC Second Team. Last year’s rookie of the year, is third on the team in kills (271), kills per set (2.49) and is sixth in the conference in hitting percentage (.282).

Michelle James, Morgan, Senf and
Amanda Wilken were all named to the MAAC All-Academic Team.
