Erie, PA – In the first meeting between the two programs, Niagara and Mercyhurst played in a scoreless draw Wednesday night at Saxon Stadium in Erie, PA

Mercyhurst recorded the contest's first shot on goal in the tenth minute of action as Grant Wyles fought off a shot at the bottom right corner of the net.

The Purple Eagles recorded their first threat in the 18th minute of play as Tetsunari Fujishiro's strike was fought off by the Lakers keeper.

Wyles recorded his second save of the first half as he stopped Ronny Wakelin in the 40th minute.

The Toronto, Ontario product Wyles was put to the test again in the 69th minute as he recorded his third save of the match.

Paolo Gottoli attempted a strike in the 83rd minute but was fought off by the Lakers netminder. Gottoli would take Niagara's final shot in the 85th minute, but his game-winning attempt went wide.

Coach Boyle on Today's Performance:
"Our guys continue to learn our system, believe in it, and play with passion within it. They're defending for each other, competing for each other, and that's showing with two clean sheets in a row. We created chances tonight and were unlucky not to find a goal, but Mercyhurst is a good team, and any time you earn a clean sheet—especially on the road—it's a positive result. We're gaining confidence, getting better every game, and we feel like we're moving in the right direction as we head into conference play."
