NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – The Purple Eagles men’s basketball program will host its inaugural alumni weekend from June 22-23 on the Niagara University campus.

The weekend will feature great activities for the whole family, including clinics, autograph signings, contests and a commemorative program. Several alums from the program which began play in 1906 will be returning to Monteagle Ridge, including Naismith Hall of Famer Calvin Murphy.

“Maybe this should be called FAMILY WEEKEND!! I know the word family is used loosely, but this will be more like a family reunion,” Niagara head coach Joe Mihalich said. “We all grew to love Niagara University, our teammates and our NU experience!  I simply cannot wait to see everyone!!!”

The festivities begin on Friday with a cookout, featuring players, alums, family and friends, between the Kiernan Center and the Niagara Tennis Courts at 6-9 p.m. Tickets for the event will be $20.

On Saturday, the day’s events start with the Calvin Murphy Instructional Clinic from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. at the Gallagher Center. Murphy will run the camp for boys and girls between 8-16 years old. There is a $5 registration fee which includes a t-shirt.

A luncheon featuring Murphy will be at the Como Restaurant in Niagara Falls, N.Y. from Noon – 2 p.m. Tickets for the luncheon are $25 at the door. Back on campus, there will be a “Pick Your Seat” event starting at 4 p.m. for season tickets for the upcoming 2012-13 season.

The main event will be the game played at the legendary ‘Taps’ Gallagher Center – the Mihalich Era Game. The game, which will feature alums from 1999-2012, will start at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for the game will be $5. After the game, there will be a postgame autograph session and a reception.
