NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. - The Niagara men's and women's teams hosted the 2011 Little Three Championships on Saturday afternoon at Veteran's Memorial Park, with the men's team taking second place out of three teams and the women's team taking third place of three teams.
The Purple Eagles finished with 52 points in the men's race, putting them behind first place Canisius (19 points) and ahead of St. Bonaventure (87 points).
Vincent Donner led the way for Niagara, finishing the 8k course in a time of 27:27, good for fourth place out of 33 runners. Eight seconds behind Donner was
Nick Orlowski in fifth place in a time of 27:35, while
Sam Reedy was Niagara's third finisher of the day, coming in 12th place in a time of 28:08.
Niagara finished with 51 points in the women's race, four points behind St. Bonaventure (47 points) and 25 points behind first place Canisius (26 points). Niagara was led by
Kim Vona, who completed the 5k course in second place out of 25 runners in a time of 19:08. Supporting Vona was
Stephanie Schmidt, who finished in sixth place in a time of 19:32 and
Lindsay Phillips in 11th place in a time of 20:49.
Niagara will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 30, as it will head to the 2011 Paul Short Invitational, hosted by Lehigh.
