Former Purple Eagle center Benson Egemonye has signed with Kis-Raba menti Takarek Soproni KC of the Hungarian A-Division.
Egemonye (’09) played three seasons for the Purple Eagles where he was a part of the 2007 NCAA Tournament and 2009 NIT teams and earned All-MAAC Second Team honors in 2009. Egemonye holds the school’s single season record in field goal percentage (62.6) set in the 2007-08 season and career field goal percentage (58.3). Benson is sixth in career blocks with 113 and has the seventh most blocks in single season (56 in 2008-09).
Egemonye played most recently at Heilongjiang Zhaozhou Feng Shen (China). While playing 18 games for Heilongjiang last season he averaged 22.8 ppg, 15.4 rpg (best in the league), 1.3 apg, 1.6spg and 2.4 bpg (3rd best in the league). A very spectacular season in his career as he was voted to Asia-Basket.com All-Chinese NBL 2nd Team. This will be his second year in Hungary. Before came to China, he played in PVSK Pannonpower Pecs. In 28 games he was averaged 13.7 ppg and an impressive 15.4 rpg (league's leader). He was named Eurobasket.com All-Hungarian League Honorable Mention.
