NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. - After a long search, Niagara University athletics recently hired Jim Herrmann to the post of Associate Athletics Director for External Affairs.
As Associate Athletics Director, Herrmann oversees the marketing, sales, corporate sponsorships, communications and community involvement efforts for Niagara University Athletics. The newly appointed member of Niagara's senior management team will also work closely with the Purple & White club and manage the cross-country teams.
"Jim has created a high level of success everywhere he has been," Niagara Director of Athletics Ed McLaughlin said. "We wanted to hire someone who has a proven track record, a background and knowledge of Western New York and a strong leadership foundation. Jim rose to the top throughout the hiring process."
The Buffalo native and St. Bonaventure graduate brings to the Purple Eagles a diverse range of college and professional sports marketing and sales experience. With the University of California Athletics (“Cal”) as the Director of Ticket Sales, Herrmann was responsible for all ticket sales revenue and attendance through the marketing and promotion of single game, mini-plan, group and season ticket programs. In his two seasons as a Golden Bear, Herrmann’s teams broke several season ticket sales records and grew football and basketball group sales significantly. Most recently, Herrmann was the Director of Ticket Sales and Service for the WNBA Los Angeles Sparks and has also spent time in sales and marketing with the Pittsburgh Pirates. While in Pittsburgh, he assisted in the Pirates’ hosting of the 77th Major League Baseball All-Star Game in 2006.
For his efforts at the University of California, Herrmann was honored four times by the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA). In 2008, Jim picked up a Gold Award in the Best Print Ad category, while landing a Silver Award in the Best Season Ticket Sales Campaign. Hermann also notched a Silver Award in 2009 for the Best Radio Ad category and a Bronze Award in 2007 for Best Single Game Promotion.
