NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – The Niagara University volleyball team was picked 10th in the 2007 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference preseason coaches poll, the conference office announced Wednesday.
The Purple Eagles, who finished with records of 4-23 overall and 2-16 in the MAAC last season, received 18 points from the MAAC coaches. Fairfield University was chosen as the preseason favorite, receiving 99 points, followed by defending league champion Siena College (91 pts.). Manhattan College (71 pts.), Canisius College (61 pts.) and Marist College (58 pts.) rounded out the top five.
Niagara opens the 2007 season Aug. 24 when it plays in the Colgate Classic.
