WEST POINT, N.Y.- The Niagara women's tennis team dropped a non conference game on Friday afternoon to the Rhode Island Rams, 7-0.
The doubles tandem of Julia Gray and Emma Cunnington picked up Niagara's (1-10) lone victory on the day as they defeated Jenna Williams and Michelle Dussol of Rhode island, 8-1, but it was not enough as Rhode Island held on to take the doubles point.
In singles action, Hilary Hansen was defeated in a nailbitter by Kristen Leikem of Rhode Island by the score of 6-4, 5-7 (13-11). Brittany Walters also was defeated, but put up a strong fight in her defeat by the score of 7-6 (7-4) 3-6 (10-2).
In doubles action, the duo of Hansen and Alyssa Lucas were not enough as they were beat by the top pairing of Rhode island, 9-8 (7-2). Raquel Solis and Walters were unable to pick up a victory as they were beat by the score of 8-2.
Niagara will return to the court on Saturday, March 13 as it will face Fordham in West Point, N.Y. The match is set for 3 p.m.
