Niagara University., N.Y.- The women's tennis team put in a strong effort through the rain as they won three of six single matches and swept the doubles against Bucknell and Bloomsburg in the Bloomsburg Invitational.
The Purple Eagles were led by the doubles pairing of Hilary Hansen (Charlottetown, P.E.I.) and Alyssa Lucas (Clarkston, Mich.) as they defeated the duo of Palko and Hasyn from Bloomburg 8-2 and Lepuras and Ciotti from Bucknell 8-6. Lucas would see Lepuras again in singles competition, as Bucknell would pull out the victory 6-4 6-2.
The men's tennis team did not get a chance to hit the court as the rain prevented them from doing so. The men and women will hope to return to action tomorrow for day two of the invitational if the weather allows them to.
