NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – For the second time in her career, senior Julianne Prokopich (Loretto, Ont.) of the Niagara University women’s tennis team was named to a 2007 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Women’s At-Large Team when she was honored on the second team Thursday.
Prokopich, who was on the 2005-06 second team, was one of 11 student-athletes honored on the second team, and her 4.07 grade-point average in communications was the highest among all 21 student-athletes representing the first and second teams.
The three-time Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Academic selection finished the 2006-07 season earning second team All-MAAC accolades at No. 3 singles and first team All-MAAC at No. 3 doubles.
Student-athletes who maintain a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average or higher for his/or career and have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing are eligible for the awards sponsored by ESPN The Magazine and College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
