Healy Earns Second MAAC Player of the Week Award

EDISON, N.J. - Junior Teresa Healy was named MAAC Softball Co-Player of the Week announced on Monday from the league's office. This is Healy's second Player of the Week award this season.

Healy batted .524 in six games for Niagara as it went 4-2 last week.  Healy led the Purple Eagles in batting average (.600), hits (9), RBIs (9), total bases (18) and was tied for first in runs (5) as Niagara scored 33 runs in its 3-1 MAAC weekend. Healy and teammate Jenna Baker tied Niagara single game record with five RBIs in the Purple Eagles’ 16-7 win over Saint Peter’s in game one of the their doubleheader on Saturday; Healy went 3-for-4 with five RBIs and three runs, including a two-run homer.

In game two of the twinbill, Healy went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs. Healy also set a school single game record with three doubles. Niagara scored a record amount of runs in a doubleheader (30) in the sweep versus SPC. Healy batted .500 (3-for-6) in Niagara’s split against Manhattan on Sunday. Healy’s two-run double in the sixth inning propelled the Purple Eagles to 2-0 in the second game of the doubleheader. 

Niagara plays at Big Four rival Buffalo on Wednesday and hosts MAAC foe Rider in a Saturday doubleheader.
