Cross Country Competes In UB Stampede Meet

GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. - The Niagara men's and women's cross country team participated in the University at Buffalo Stampede meet on Saturday, with the men's team finishing sixth amongst varsity college programs and the women's team finishing eighth.

The men's team was paced by senior Colin Durina (Poland, Ohio) who finished the 8k course in 27:44, good for 38th place. Behind Durina was junior Jason Fischer (Newfane, N.Y.) in 43rd place, freshman Mike Ferraro (Clifton Park, N.Y.) in 44th place and junior Mike Trendell (Oriskany Falls, N.Y.) in 46th place.

Freshman Jessica Spellane (Vestal, N.Y.) led the way for the women's team, finishing the 5k course in 20:41, good for 33rd place. Fellow freshmen Alyssa Tusang (Cobleskill, N.Y.) and Jennifer Raby (Lewiston, N.Y.) were the next two finishers for the Purple Eagles, clocking in at 21:40 and 22:01, respectively.

The Purple Eagles are back in action next Saturday, when they participate in the Little Three Meet against cross-town rival Canisius and host St. Bonaventure.
