ALBANY, N.Y. - The Niagara men's tennis team put in an efficient performance in its 5-2 win over the Siena Saints to break its six-match losing streak on Sunday night. The Purple Eagles moved into third place in the MAAC with one more conference match left before the MAAC Tournament.

"The guys did a good job of taking care of business today," head coach Anthony Nguyen said.  "The highlight of the match was John (Baird) and Jordan (Tedesco-Blair) clinching the doubles point for the team.  John has worked hard to get where he's at and it was nice to see him rewarded for that hard work.  We'll put in a good week of practice and be ready for a big match next weekend against Fairfield."

Niagara (9-12, 3-2 MAAC) snagged the all important doubles point with victories by its second and third teams. NU's No. 1 team of Jeremy Quiroz and Matthew Kane lost a close one to Siena's (2-12, 0-3 MAAC) Mike Amico and Jarret Siwiec, 8-6. The Purple Eagles picked up wins from their number two tandem of Brandon Gallegos and Joe Zelic over Jay and Nick Godbole, 8-3, and clinched the point when their third team of John Baird and Jordan Tedesco-Blair defeated Rob Cooperman Vik Kadaba, 8-6.
