FLUSHING, N.Y. - The No. 5 seed Niagara Purple Eagles were edged by the fourth-seeded Loyola Greyhounds, 4-3, in the 2010 MAAC Tournament First Round on Friday morning at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The defeat ends Niagara's season and is the first time Niagara hasn't advanced past the first round since 2005.

The Niagara men’s and women’s tennis teams start their title run for the 2010 MAAC Championship on Friday, April 23 from the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y. The men’s team is the fifth-seed and will play against the No. 4 seed Loyola Greyhounds at 9 a.m. The fifth-seeded women’s team will face fourth-seeded Siena at 1:30 p.m.

Abji Named Niagara Athlete of the Week NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – Sophomore Alex Abji (Vancouver, B.C.), of the men’s tennis team, was named Niagara University Athlete of the Week Monday after helping the Purple Eagles win their spring season opener vs. Cleveland State this past Saturday.
The annual Niagara men’s alumni match is set for Friday, March 12 at the SportsPlex in North Tonawanda.
