VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Niagara men's basketball team (1-1) had its chances against No. 23 Villanova (3-0), but eventually fell in front of a sold-out Pavilion crowd in a nationally televised game on Wednesday night, 77-62. EDISON, N.J. - A pair of Niagara men's basketball players earned weekly accolades from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Office on Monday after the Purple Eagles' 79-62 season opening victory over Towson. Junior guard Tyrone Lewis (Levittown, Pa.) was named MAAC Co-Player of the Week, while freshman forward Kashief Edwards (Philadelphia, Pa.) nabbed MAAC Rookie of the Week honors.

Lewis Lands Purple Pride Performer of the Week NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. - Men's basketball sophomore Tyrone Lewis (Levittown, Pa.) was named Purple Pride Performer of the Week for his efforts in Niagara's 79-73, season-opening victory over Central Michigan last Friday. The 5-foot-11 guard set a career-high with 26 points in the win.
