NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. – The Niagara men’s tennis team swept the Loyola Greyhounds on Sunday afternoon to stay undefeated in conference play.

The Purple Eagles (9-6, 3-0 MAAC) won all nine matches played (six singles, three doubles) en route to their 11th win in their last 14 meetings with the Greyhounds (5-1, 0-1 MAAC).

“I’m proud of the way the guys approached today’s match,” head coach Anthony Nguyen said. “They all were very workmanlike and it is nice to see the team starting to peak at the right time.”

All three doubles teams extended their win streaks on the day. Olivier Dufour-Coursol and David Raymond clipped Connor Pietrak and Bobby Gorczakowski, 8-6, in No. 1 doubles for their fourth straight win. In No. 2 doubles, Lorenz Schwojer and Brandon Gallegos eased past their opponent for their third consecutive win. However, it is the No. 3 doubles tandem of Mathieu Lacasse and Michael Elortegui that sport the longest win streak at five matches. The duo topped Jordan Kuchta and Greg Olesnycky, 8-4.

NU rolled in its singles matches, with all six matches decided in straight sets. Schwojer and Dufour-Coursol both stretched their winning streaks to five matches, Gallegos won his fourth, Lacasse and Raymond notched their third straight and Elortegui his second straight.

Niagara is back on the court on Friday, March 29 at Wagner.
